  1. We are deeply sorry for your loss ~ Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services – Cedar Rapids

  2. Worked with Gert back in the day at Mercy. Truly enjoyed working with her. She was very kind and compassionate nurse. So sorry for your loss.

  3. I was a young nurse on Zone 31 where I had the opportunity to work with Gertie.
She was so kind and caring to her patients and families. She was a nurse you could look up to for help. Never too busy to help. God Bless her. My condolence to her family. Pat Anderson

  4. I love you, grandma. Thanks for giving me my love for plants, flowers, gardening and bird watching. If I try – I can still smell fresh bread baking in the oven, with the sweet smell of raisins and honey.. and I can hear your voice softly reading, “Are You My Mother?”. I will miss spending st. Patrick’s day with you and grandpa. Thanks for being someone that people could look up to.. it makes me feel good to be reassured by some of these comments.

  5. In 1986, the Harrington-Lorenz Family Reunion was held on the Francis Harrington farm east of Woden, Iowa. It was a great time! In this picture are Dan & Marian; Andy & Cottie; Clarence & Marie; Bob & Gertie; and Francis & Georgia. I remember Aunt Gertie as always being very kind, with a special smile and laughter. In pictures of her, you can clearly see how much she loved family.

  6. I’m very sorry to hear of your loss. Your Mom was one of my favorite people growing up. I’ve thought of her several times over the years. She always was welcoming and included me as though I was one of the family. She was a very special person. My condolences.

  7. It was a pleasure to work with Gertie. She was both a good nurse and a very nice person. Always friendly. May she rest in eternal peace.

  8. I was lucky to work 3-11 with Gert at Mercy in the
70’s and 80’s. She was an excellent nurse and a
wonderful co-worker, always willing to help other staff. Loved her smile!!!
My sympathy to her family, Mary Emerson
