Ronald 'Ron' Dewitt, 64, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away at his home on December 21, 2024, in Hiawatha, Iowa. Celebration of Life will be at a later date.
Ron was born March 29, 1960, in Cedar Rapids, son to Raymond and Sharon (Moneypenny) Dewitt. Ron worked at Color Web Printers until they closed and was currently working for the city of Hiawatha.
Ron was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed going hunting, fishing, and camping.
Ron is survived by his son, Adam Dewitt; granddaughter, Gianna Dewitt; nephew, Colt (Nicole) Dewitt; niece, Skylar Mitchell; great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many loving family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Terri Dewitt.

Worked with Ron at the Gazette downtown and at Color web in maintenance. At work one day we had a water tray plug up and the press was already behind and did not want to stop the press. The director of operation asked if maintenance could do anything without shutting press down. Typical Ron fashion, he offered to crawl in the press while running and unplug the tray. This is a big no no, but the director said do it. Ron did and as he was crawling out the press our manager had come over and saw Ron. Told Ron to get cleaned up and to see him in his office. Our manager fired Ron that day, Ron came out of the office as the director of operations was walking in. Director thanked Ron. Ron told him he was just fired for unplugging drain. Director took the papers from Ron and tore them up and proceeded to inform our manager that he ever tries to fire Ron again that it would be him, not Ron, that is walked out the door.
