Amelita Rojas Montoya, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Requiem Mass: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 8, 2025, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 315 South Casino Center Boulevard, Las Vegas, Nevada 89101.
Amelita Montoya was a natural gardener at heart. She enjoyed taking care of, watering, and watching her plants grow. She did the same thing with people. She was a nurse for over 40 years where she took great pride in taking care of others. She loved people- most especially her family and friends. She enjoyed going out with them and experiencing life to the full. She loved playing games and experiencing the joy of winning. Her own health and faith life were also important to her. She was active in many things over the years. Many people benefited from her natural generosity of heart. Her wish was that the Lord would bless her life and all of her work. Her legacy will live on in all the lives that she touched.
Amelita is survived by her siblings, Aurea, Clotildo (Aracely), Ma. Lorna (Lorenzo) Dolores, Isabelita (Jun) Avila, Asteria (Ǜ筨) Tesipao, Liberato Jr. (Azarina), Ma. Belen (Miguel) Betita.
Amelita was preceded in death by her parents, Liberato Montoya Sr and Asuncion Rojas Montoya; and siblings, Ramona, Eliseo (Lita), Felito (Helen), Victor ( Aurora), Andres (Nora), Eleuteria, Leopoldo (Juliet), Loreto, Teodora ( Antonio) Mandreza.
