Stephanie Clark

January 7, 1974 ~ April 16, 2024

Stephanie Beth Clark, 50, of Mount Vernon, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Mechanicsville Specialty Care. Family and friends will gather from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon. Stephanie was born on January 7, 1974, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Steven and Mary (Mason) Clark. She graduated from Solon High School in 1992. Stephanie enjoyed working at Goodwill for 20 years before her health forced her into retirement. She was kind and loving to everyone, nice to a fault, and beamed positivity into the world. Stephanie loved television and movies, playing games, doing crafts and solving puzzle books. She especially loved General Hospital, anybody who knew Stephanie knew not to bother her during her program! Stephanie loved spending time with her nieces and nephews at family gatherings. Her beautiful smile and gentle spirit will be forever remembered, and greatly missed, Stephanie's drive to keep living, smiling, being kind and enjoying life as much as possible, despite enduring the pain of terminal illnesses, was an inspiration to her family, those at Mechanicsville Specialty Care, and those from Care Initiatives Hospice. Her family includes her parents, Steve and Mary Clark; sister, Samantha (John) Zehms and their children; Gretta, Adam, Erik and Kevin; sister, Meagan (Jason) Russell and their children Quinn, Jacob and Piper; as well as numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Stephanie has joined her sister Meagan Russell, grandparents, Jake and Marcella (Brannaman) Clark and Chiles and Ethel (Vrchoticky) Mason, in heaven. Memorials may be directed to her family. The family would like to extend a big thank-you to the Mechanicsville Specialty Care and to Care Initiatives Hospice for their loving care of Stephanie.

  2. Steve Mary and Family
Just saw the notice on the Gazette App. Can hardly type through the tears. We are so sorry to hear of this unimaginable loss. I really am at a loss for words as if they could take away the pain. I suppose the only comfort I can offer is that a person never really leaves us if they live in our memory.
    All our love and sympathy,
    Glenn and Shirley Shafar

    • Samantha here, your condolences are much appreciated. I’ll make sure mom and dad see this. It’s been a hard year losing Stephanie just now and my little sister Meagan 8 months ago.
