Brianna Sauer, 39, of Mechanicsville, Iowa, passed away peacefully in her home on April 6, 2024, after a courageous year-long battle with cancer. Celebration of Life: Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. ' 1:00 p.m., Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon, Iowa.
Brianna Dawn Hunt was born on May 21, 1984, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Mark and Kathryn Hunt.
A big part of her childhood was spent at the campground her grandparents Larry and Gloria owned south of Tipton, Iowa. The campground was a family affair where every weekend she got to hang out and work with her aunts, uncles, and cousins, who became more like siblings. It would be at the campground where she would meet her future husband, Adam Sauer. The high school sweethearts married on July 8, 2006, on a very hot day. Brianna and Adam went on to have two beautiful daughters.
Brianna's greatest passion in life was helping kids. As a para-educator at North Cedar Elementary School in Mechanicsville, she had a positive impact on the lives of countless students. She served the children in the community as a member of the Mechanicsville Library board. She also was a constant driving force in her kids' lives, supporting them in every endeavor. She took every opportunity to volunteer and coach no matter what the sport. Even during chemo and radiation she still coached softball and never missed a game. When the kids moved into middle school and high school sports, she did her best to make it to every game, home or away. She was proud of the women her daughters were becoming, they were the light of her life.
Brianna and her sister, Kiley, have always been very close, getting together with their kids whenever possible. This was often at their parents' home, where a walk in the creek was a favorite activity for her. All these occasions were thoroughly preserved by the hundreds of photos Bri loved to take. This is evident by the many albums and scrapbooks she carefully organized.
Brianna will be remembered for her generous heart and spirit and her beautiful, bright smile.
Brianna is survived by her parents, Mark and Kathryn Hunt; husband, Adam Sauer; children, Morgan and Adison Sauer; sister, Kiley (Clay) Koenig; half-brother, Matt Panko; great grandmother, Dorthy Wolfe; grandmother, Gloria Hunt; grandparents, Robert and Audrey Rothmeyer; mother and father-in-law, Jack and Ann Sauer; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Brianna was preceded in death by her grandfather, Larry Hunt.
A General Memorial Fund has been established in care of Adam Sauer.
