Melody Marie Hoffman, 20, of Marion, Iowa, was taken from us way too soon, on February 18, 2024. Visitation: 4:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 29, 2024, Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Funeral: 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 1, 2024, Cornerstone Church, Marion, Iowa. Burial: At a later date.
Melody was born on December 9, 2003, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of TJ and Megan (Summers) Hoffman.
Melody, true to her name, loved all kinds of music. Melody enjoyed her time at Liberty High School and Kirkwood Community College, where she met many good friends. She loved swimming, camping, concerts, and being involved in scouting. She volunteered at the Linn County Animal Shelter and looked forward to volunteering more. Her love for animals ran deep. Every chance she had to donate blood she took it. She loved to hear about the impact her donation made. She was the most loving and caring person who would help anyone. She knew no strangers, had no fear, and loved everyone unconditionally. She immensely loved and cherished her cousins, whom she held close to her heart.
Melody is survived by her parents, grandparents, Deb (Phil) Fordyce, Mike Summers, and Karla Hoffman; great-grandparents, Richard (Marcella) Fleming; aunts & uncles, Colby (Daisy) Hoffman, Jessye (Jim) Brink, Shawna Hoffman, BJ Summers, and Denny (Marisa) Summers; and countless cousins.
Melody was preceded in death by her sister, Ellie Quinn Hoffman; Papa, Richard Hoffman, and great-grandparents.
A memorial fund has been established at the Collins Community Credit Union, Melody Hoffman Memorial Fund.
We are deeply sorry for your loss ~ Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services – Cedar Rapids
Melody was at my house the Saturday before Valentines Day. I had made some heart shaped, jam filled cookies, but I didn’t like the taste. Daisy tried them and said the same. Melody said they were great and she would gladly take them all. I gathered them all up for her. Very sweet of her to make me feel better. My deepest sympathies to her family and all those in pain over her tragic loss.
You are like a extra Grandma to Melody! Grandma K
I first met Melody as a student at Liberty High. We quickly became friends while I supported her in Sparkles Cheer Squad. She was a vivacious, friendly, and loveable young lady. I was honored that she called me her “bestie” and eventually she became one of my “adopted” kids, light heartedly calling me mom while at school. My family enjoyed horse back riding and fishing with Melody outside of school. Melody, you will always be in my heart and we will never forget you.
I remember Melody talking about you. She loved being in sparkles. Thank you for sharing. Grandma K
Grandma K, it was a great honor to be a part of her life and get to know her.
We had the pleasure of knowing and meeting up with Melody and her family a few times throughout the years. The thing I remember about her is how sweet and a beautiful happy girl she was.
May she rest in peace.
Love, Brad and Rose Lound
Thank you all, Melody loved family!

I was blessed to know Melody when I was her teacher at Liberty. She greeted me and others with a smile that turned around your day. Whenever she got her nails done or got a Starbuck’s she’d run into my classroom to show me. Melody was one of the hardest workers I taught, full of true grit. She loved the world and we loved her.
She diffently knew how to make everyone smile. Thank you for sharing. Grandma K
I am so very sorry for your loss. Our family sends our deepest condolences
