Gary Pantenburg, 71, of Martelle, died peacefully on Wednesday, May, 17, 2023, at home. A Celebration of Life will take place from 10:00 a.m. ' 12:00 noon, Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Attire is casual.
Survivors include his wife, Christina Youngmon; daughter, Sheila (Kyle) Cobb; grandchildren, Christopher Gericke, Kelsi (Mike) Vongsavath, Holli Gericke, Abigail (Drew) Cobb, and Dani Cobb; great-grandchildren, Landon, Easton, Parker, Kenley, Ari, and Cecilia; brother, Ray (Kristen) Pantenburg; several nieces and nephews; friend, Austin Puetz; and Gary's biological son, daughter, and grandchildren.
Gary was born to Ralph and Helen Patenburg in Peru, Illinois on August 26, 1951. He retired from the United States Navy as a Master Chief Petty Officer. Gary married Christina (Luerkens) Youngmon and their family shared their love. He loved farming, garden work, fishing, mechanical tinkering, and the BEARS. Gary was a history buff, an avid reader, and a great teacher who loved sharing many fabulous stories.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dale Pantenburg; and friend Bob.

Rode Submarines with Gary back in the mid 70’s. He was a reserved, very, very smart man with a kindness above everyone else. He was unique amongst the unique. Gary loved his family with his whole heart. I will remember him until we both meet on God’s Golden Shores.
