Larry D. Gilbert, 58, passed away April 19, 2023, in Cedar Rapids. Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services of Cedar Rapids is caring for Larry's family. Larry is survived by his only daughter, ShaQuinda Cooper of Saginaw, Michigan; two granddaughters, DaviAhna & Quin'Naejha Cooper-Anglin of Saginaw, Michigan; great granddaughter, Italy Cooper-Anglin of Saginaw, Michigan; two brothers, Kenneth Gilbert of Cedar Rapids, and Alvin Gilbert of Saginaw, Michigan; sister, Cassandra Gilbert of Saginaw, Michigan; favorite aunties, Gwendolyn Burnett of Little Rock, Arkansas, Betty Mitchell of Columbia, Tennessee; and very dear friends, Melvin Shaw and Roy Webb. Larry D. Gilbert, the son of Alvin J. Gilbert Sr. and Mattie Lou Gilbert was born May 8, 1964, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Larry grew up in Saginaw, Michigan, where he attended school. He graduated from Saginaw High School. He liked telling people to mind their own business, that was his slogan. He, also, always said, 'If it don't make dollars; it don't make sense.' Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Gilbert Sr. and Mattie Lou Gilbert; sisters, Velma and LaSheral Gilbert; and uncle, Junious L. Mitchell. .

    (Wop) was one of the kindest people I’ve ever met.
    He didn’t deserve the way he past.
    I didn’t get a chance to see him since I returned to Iowa from Texas but I spoke with him on the phone.
    As always,
    In good spirits and had a kind word for everyone.
    He will be missed and thought of on a regular basis.

  3. Wapp was like a brother to me. He made me laugh. Him and Foo would stay at my house. I just found out that he passed away. Rip in piece my friend.
