Ila Dalena Taylor, 83, of Lisbon, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Unity Point Health, St. Luke's Center, Cedar Rapids. Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon are caring for Ila's family.
Ila is survived by her husband of more than 65 years, James; daughter, Debra (Verne) Dudley of Lisbon; son, Kirk of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Nicholas Walton, Carson Walton, Lyndon (Amanda) Dudley, Claire Taylor, Chaz Taylor; four great-grandchildren, Carolynn, Elizabeth, Piper, Korbin, and another great-grandchild due in April of 2023.
Ila Dalena, the daughter of Eugene and Kathryn Roberts Kirkpatrick, was born August 15, 1939, in New Ulm, Minnesota. She moved to Mount Vernon, Iowa, in high school. Later her family moved to Lisbon, but Ila continued her schooling in Mount Vernon, graduating from Mount Vernon High School. Ila was united in marriage to James H. Taylor on August 17, 1957. The couple made their entire married life in Lisbon, Iowa. Ila worked as a homemaker and mother. James and Ila were blessed with two children, Debra and Kirk. Ila enjoyed working outside in her flower garden.
Although her home was in Iowa her heart never left Minnesota. Her childhood held many good times growing up with uncles who were more like brothers. Throughout her life she always had a great love of the outdoors. Riding her horses, working in her yard and lastly enjoying her screen porch. Family was most important to her and her little dog Molly.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
