Ruby Mohr

Ruby Louise O'Connor Mohr, 87, of Mount Vernon and Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Stewart Baxter Funeral and Memorial Services of Cedar Rapids are caring for Ruby's family. No services are planned at Ruby's request. Ruby is survived by a sister, Louise Franks of Mount Vernon; nieces, Laurie (Steve) Niles of Cedar Rapids, Deb O'Connor Nelson of Lisbon; and many other nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends. Ruby Louise, was born July 22, 1935, in Mount Vernon, the daughter of Lester Francis and Fay Charlotte Richards O'Connor. Ruby grew up and attended school in Mount Vernon. On November 25, 1966, Ruby and Jim Mohr were united in marriage. Ruby and Jim spent the next 35 years working. Jim worked as an electrical contractor, and Ruby in dry cleaning. The couple traveled the Southern United States. Ruby and Jim returned to retire in Mount Vernon, in 2000. Ruby enjoyed retirement, surrounded by friends and family. In 2019, due to health concerns, Ruby moved into assisted living at Evergreen Estates ll, Cedar Rapids, where she spent her remaining years. At Evergreen Estates, she lived happy and well cared for by their staff and her favorite, and best nieces. Ruby is preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Robert Richards, Frank Richards, Carl O'Connor, Sharon O'Connor Bergstad, Becky O'Connor, Fred McLaughlin Jr., and Linda McLaughlin.
