Linda 'Lily' L. King passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at her residence in Marion surrounded by her family. Per Linda's wishes a Celebration of Life will be held instead of funeral services. The family will hold a Celebration of Life Open House on June 20th from 3-7 at Red Cedar Lodge, Wanatee Park, Marion, Iowa. Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services of Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.
Survivors include four children, Geri Lynn Eklund (Mike) of Libertyville, Julie McNulty of Cedar Rapids, Steven King of Cedar Rapids, Stephanie Baumann (Jason) of Marion; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two sisters, Diane Ashby of Missouri, Beverly Ashby (Burdette) of Utah; and other relatives and friends.
Linda Lou King was born September 26, 1939, the daughter of Kenneth and Nancy Peak Ashby in Pekin, Illinois. Linda grew up in the Pekin area where she attended school and graduated from Pekin High School. She was united in marriage to Jerry King on September 21, 1957. The couple resided in Fairfield, Iowa for 25 years and were blessed with four children. Linda worked mainly as a housewife and mother. Outside of the home, Linda worked at Overland Outfitters and Walton Club in Fairfield; and Younkers and Elmcrest Country Club of Cedar Rapids. Linda enjoyed years of volunteering her time at Bridgehaven and Treasures. Linda enjoyed doing crafts, crochet, and shopping for hidden treasures. She loved spending time with family and friends playing cards and entertaining in her home. Her greatest love was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, who affectionally called her 'Nani'.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry in 1994; son-in-law, Mike McNulty; a sister, Juanita Reilly; and her beloved pet dog Jack.
Memorials may be made to Bridgehaven, Hospice of Unity Point, or to the family. Cards may be mailed in care of Julie McNulty, 1780 Red Fox Way, Marion, IA 52302.
