Richard Keesy

July 8, 1960 ~ February 19, 2022

Richard Allan Keesy, 61, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away at home on Saturday, February 19, 2022. Visitation: 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, with a vigil service beginning at 4 p.m. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Reverend Douglas Loecke. Private family burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Those unable to attend are invited to watch the Funeral Mass via livestream. Survivors include his wife, Kayleen; son, Michael (Ashley) Keesy, Miles (Terrence) Keesy, and Jacob (Kara) Keesy; grandchildren, Grayson Keesy, Harper Keesy, Olivia Keesy, and Letty Johnson-Keesy; and siblings, Chuck (Judy) Keesy, Kathy Brunson, Kenneth Keesy, Bob (Paula) Keesy, Marty (Jan) Keesy, and Betty Smith. Rich was born July 8, 1960, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of Kenneth and Maxine Keesy. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1978. On September 10, 1983, he married Kayleen Halstead in Eagle Center, Iowa. Rich spent 44 years working at Hy-Vee Food Stores. He enjoyed driving his 1970 Cutlass, fishing, golfing, and sports, especially the Minnesota Vikings. Rich was a hardworking man of few words and a big smile. He loved spending time with his family, most importantly his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Mercy or St. Matthew Catholic Church.
