Edward Wright, 56, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at Faith Bible Church, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4 p.m. with Sharing of Memories beginning at 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 5, 2021, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Survivors include his wife, Edith; children, Edwina, Edson, Patience, Edmund, and Edinton; five grandchildren; many siblings including Marie, Nancy, Leo, Kennedy, and Pandora; mother-in-law, Rebecca Paye; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Josephine, Martha, Monica, Eddie, Wallace, Cecilia, and Christian; special friends Kendrick, Gonglo, and Leon; and many extended family, friends, and community members. Edward Wilbur Wright was born June 1, 1965, in Monrovia, Liberia, to Brown and Voyee Wright. He earned a degree studying Theology at the Bible College in Liberia. He served the community as a Pastor for many years at the Church of Christ in Liberia. Edward met Edith Paye at an Independence Day celebration in Morovia, and they were married in 2000 after moving to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He served the community as Pastor at the local Refugee Church in Philadelphia. Edward enjoyed learning'he earned his Associate's of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2014, and Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a focus in Christian Counseling in 2018 from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. He recently received his Master's in Criminal Justice from Mount Mercy University, in Cedar Rapids. He is a loyal member of the Faith Bible Church in Cedar Rapids, and participated in TADDA Organization where he would coordinate sending funds to Liberia to help build schools and help the community back home. He enjoyed reading his bible and learning about history. Edward was a peaceful, kind, funny, soft-spoken, and dedicated man. He was handy and hardworking. Edward's family was the most important to him'he cherished his wife and children and was a loving man. He will be missed by all who knew and love him. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Edward 'Eddie-boy' Jr.; and father-in-law, Joseph Paye.
