Danette Hofer

January 15, 1959 ~ May 28, 2021

Danette Christine Hofer, went home to heaven to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus on Friday, May 28, 2021, at the age of 62 after a heroic three-year battle with ovarian cancer. Her final days were spent at home, surrounded by friends and family and she passed away at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with her husband by her side. Danette was born on January 15, 1959, in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, the daughter of Delores McKenzie and the late Lowell McKenzie. She was the oldest of four siblings and on June 13, 1987, she married Jerry Hofer. Danette was a lover of God and of family, a devoted wife, and mother. Whether it was knitting a blanket for a friend or a scarf for her daughter - the words 'crafty, warm, kind, generous, thoughtful, and bright' were often found attached to her name. She was a God chaser and lived her life following His leading. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Hofer; daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Rob Morgan; mother, Delores McKenzie; and siblings, Mark, Pam, and Margo. A service will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at First Assembly of God in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, at 11 a.m.

  1. Danette was such a people person! She loved interacting with people and had a positive personality- I will miss her at the office!

  2. She was an amazing wife, mother, role model and a beautiful example of Christ’s love to a multitude. More then a friend she was a sister to all who knew her. Never saw her without a smile or her wonderful unforgettable laugh. She taught my children in our church nursery how to follow Christ. She always loved those around her well. She was a treasure here on earth. I valued her prayers, praying along side her and the way she interceded for the world around her. She has a crown and is with her Savior. You’ll be so missed this side of heaven Danette. 😘 Until we are joined again someday! Love you! Your in our hearts forever. Jerry, Sarah and Rob our deepest condolences to you all. Our prayers are with you! ❤️

  3. Danette was such a light. She was one I could ask for prayer and I knew she would touch heaven. Such a beautiful example that I hope I can be like. I will miss seeing her posts and smiles. Heaven gained a lovely one. ❤️

  4. She was a wonderful sister. We pray the love of God enfolds you during your journey through grief. She is definitely at peace in heaven.

  5. Danette inspired me each day with her positive attitude, sweet smile and gentle eyes. She will continue to inspire me and I will forever be delighted to see my granddaughter cuddle with the throw of many colors that Danette made. She will live on within each one of us. Jeanette Kendall
