Tim Wilson died. That's all he wished to be said in his obituary, but his family thought they'd add a little more. Tim, age 61, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, January 16, 2021, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon, is caring for Tim and his family.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Debbie; son, Luke (Anna) Wilson; grandchildren, Landon, Ella, and Lane Wilson; siblings, Rick (Marietta) Wilson and Vicky (John) Guillory; several nieces and nephews; some extended family; and his Benchmark family.
Timothy Dean Wilson was born October 24, 1959, in Cedar Rapids to Clair and Jackie (Morris) Wilson. He attended Prairie High School, graduating in 1978. Tim married his high school sweetheart, Debbie Murphey, on August 4, 1979, in Cedar Rapids. In 1980, their son, Luke was born. Tim enjoyed golfing, riding his Harley motorcycle, and deer hunting with Luke. He was a straightforward man with a good sense of humor, no filter at times, and a loud, memorable, voice. Tim worked for Benchmark Inc. as a roof consultant for over 15 years, retiring in 2017. He cherished the time spent with his family, especially spending time with the grandkids and attending all of their sporting events. He will be dearly missed by his beloved family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Tricia.
Tim you will be missed. I remember all of out get togethers and they where always so much fun. Going out to JWs, Kernel games, and so many more. I am blessed to have known you. Love you and Debbie so much
I will always remember Tim as not only my cousin but one of my best friends growing up as kids and as well in our adult lives.
As Tim’s sister i have so many memories it’s hard to pick just one, any time I ever needed him he was there, one of my memories of Tim was when we lived in an apartment &didn’t have a Christmas tree, Tim and his friends went out in the woods cut down a huge pine tree and drug it behind the car, that was the sadness Christmas tree i had ever seen, but he was so proud that i didn’t have to go without a Christmas tree. I am really going to miss you , I’m sure your with all the family. I love Tim. Your sister Vic & John Guillory
We re saddened after hearing of Tim’s passing. Dan and he pulled some shenanigans at gatherings or weddings where both attended. I remember visiting at the fundraiser for Rick’s coworker with an affliction (cancer) and the bidding of gifts, to help out. May the Wilson Family be blessed and know you have our sympathy. <3 Dan (Squeak) and Alice Stramer
Tim was one of the most genuine men I have ever met! You knew where you stood with Tim, he would not hold “any punches”. That man could make me laugh, always a good story! He will be missed. God rest his blessed soul. Mike Newland
Tim was a great guy. I worked with him at Benchmark and he was always a bright spot; positive, upbeat, and genuine. Sympathy to his family
Tim was a treasured member of the Benchmark Family. Tim enjoyed being outside on a jobsite and never cared much for being in the office. But when he was in the office, he always had a smile on his face and made your day a little brighter. Tim will be missed. Alvin Nunnikhoven
I am just in shock to hear about Tim’s passing. I loved working with him at Benchmark and enjoyed hearing his golf lies.
I am so very sorry to hear of Cousin Tim’s passing. I am still shocked to say the least. I remember in the past us riding our motorcycles together and enjoying the outside weather. Once in a while I would stop by him and Deb’s home to visit. My Brother Dean was especially close to Tim. All of my thoughts and prayers go out to Tim’s family . He will be dearly missed. Jon Wilson
