Wayne Medlang

Wayne Medlang, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, May 10, 2020, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. At Wayne's request, there will be no services. Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, is caring for Wayne and his family. Survivors include his children, Tracie (Bill) Simmons, Terrie Brown, and Troy (Jennifer) Medlang; granddaughters, Chloe Brown and Madi Grage; siblings, Deloris Steffensen and Gary Medlang; and many extended family members. Wayne Palmer Medlang was born January 8, 1941 in Joice, Iowa, to Palmer and Alice Medlang. He attended Luther College where he received his Bachelor's in Accounting. He later attended the University of Iowa, earning his Master's in Accounting. Wayne was a CPA for many years working for many local firms. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Vernel Medlang; and brother-in-law, Clyde Steffensen. Memorials may be directed to St. Luke's Unity Point Foundation. Special Thank You to Wayne's doctors and nurses at St. Luke's Hospital and the entire staff at Manor Care where he resided for the last two years.

  2. I did not know him long, I met him playing bingo at the Keg and we always laughed so much. For the short time that I knew him I always looked forward to seeing his face when I walked into the door. He will always hold a special place in my heart. Prayers to his family and his friends.

Though it has been a few years since I last saw Mr Medlang, I will always think of him as a person that made everyone enjoy the moment! Lots of laughs and good times!   6. I recently met Wayne at Manor Care, where my mom is. We enjoyed watching Iowa men’s basketball games in the family room with him and Judy. He was a very kind man. I am so sorry for your loss! Angie & JoAnn

  7. I am so sadden to hear the lost of Wayne. He became part of our family and he was so good to Tristan and Bashy. He was so funny and made me laugh all the time. We had many great talks about life in general. On behalf of myself, kids, and grand kids we send love your way in your time of healing. Kristi

  8. Wayne, was good friend, professional associate and co-owner in two airplanes. He and his family shared a number of skiing experiences with our family. Wayne was usually the life of the party. No one lived life to the fullest more than Wayne. Just thinking about him brings back many memories of past experiences. He will be missed by many.

  9. I have many great memories of Wayne from my childhood. He seemed larger than life in his cowboy boots and his gold chain. I was asked to get him a beer once when I was a little kid, and, not knowing any better, I put ice cubes in it. Everyone laughed but Wayne very seriously thanked me. My thoughts go out to Troy, Tracie and Terrie.
