Edward 'Pip' William Ware, Jr., 66, of Cedar Rapids, went home on Sunday, October 1, 2017, at his residence. Memorial Service: 12:30 p.m., on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, by Pastor Theron Mitchell. Visitation: one hour prior to service.
On October 3, 1950, a blessing of life was given by God. Born was Edward William Ware, Jr., 'Pip,' as he began his journey on this earth unto the proud parents of Edward William Ware, Sr. and De Ella (Hill) Ware in Richey, Mississippi.
Edward 'Pip' attended North Sharkey County Elementary School in Anguilla, Mississippi. After completion, he went on to Henry Weathers High School, in Rolling Fork, Mississippi, where he received his high school diploma in 1968.
Pip confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Brown in Richey, Mississippi.
He relocated to Chicago, Illinois, where he became a die-hard Bears Fan, and where he spent several years, before moving on to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Pip found employment at Wilson Packing Company where he stayed over 15 years. He was later employed by Mercy Medical Center for 21 years, until he became ill.
On June 7, 1980 he was united in holy matrimony to Hattie M. Harris. To this union were born two children.
Pip was a very friendly and talkative. He was a man that loved his family, gardening, cooking, and of course eating. Don't forget the quality time he would always spend with grandchildren, they were his life.
A beautiful flower has been plucked from our garden. On October 1, 2017, at 10:41 PM, in his residence, the angels of death come into his room, closed his eyes, and sealed his lips. In the crowd waiting for him are his deceased parents, and eight siblings, Beatrice (George) Wright, Joe 'Stokie' Ware, Hazel Ware, Bessie (TJ) Mayfield, Ethel (John) Minor, Sylvester 'Partner' (Marie) Ware, and Lois (Wallace) Warren. Heaven had gained another angel to serve.
The memories of Pip will be cherished by his wife, Hattie; children, Edward LaVel Ellis Jr., Tea Lynett Ware, Joel Lamar Ware; grandchildren, Asia Ellis, LaVel Kichuan Ellis, Keimaiya Ellis, Keila Ellis, I'yonna Ellis, Mateyo Smallwood, Julani Ware, and Macyn Davidson; three sisters, Ceatrice Jenkins, Marietta, GA, Menthia ( John) Sands, Dadville, AL, Joyce (Frank) Edwards, Park Forest, IL; one btother, Zellner (Herdisene) Ware Chicago, IL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Ware Grandchildren Education Fund.
Ed was such a funny guy. I enjoyed working with him. he made me laugh and made my day better. He always brought joy to your lives even if he wasn’t happy. He loved to make people laugh and loved to talk. I will miss him so much and I’ll miss coming to work seeing him. He made my day better every time I seen him at work or talk to him on facebook. He’s a good guy and a good friend. im glad i got to know him. I am thankful that I got to know Ed. He was such a good guy to hang out with, work with or just talk to. He cared about everyone else’s problems but he was private about his life because he didn’t want his friends to know how he really was.
Heaven gained another angel and he’s here with us at work. I feel hear him here. He’s looking down on us making sure we’re alright. Thanks Ed for being a good friend, being a good co worker to me and all the mercy employees. You are missed by many, including me.
