Margaret Ellen Carlson was born September 9, 1948, in Cedar Rapids to James and Ione (Seltrecht) Convey. Peggy was a young single mother who worked very hard to raise and provide for her family. Peggy was a hard worker: she worked as an administrator for Kirkwood Community College for 25 years, and did cleaning jobs on the side. She enjoyed her daily crossword puzzle, was an avid reader, and enjoyed nature, especially birds and both indoor and outdoor gardening. She was a loyal, kind-hearted caregiver, always caring for her husband, family, friends, cat, plants, and household. Though direct at times, she was very respectful and an amazing friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
I remember Peggy’s tender side that came out around animals, babies, flowers and birds. She paid attention to the smallest things. She extended her care to others, and she was very nurturing to me after my Mom died. My thoughts and prayers go out to my Dad, her family members, and friends. She will be missed.
Edd, We are so sad to read about Peg. You guys were the best neighbors and a surrogate set of grandparents to Kayla. We have so many good memories and always felt lucky that Peg shared so much of herself with us. Through all of the good and the bad, I knew Peg was next door. So, so sorry for all of you. You and Peg represent such a big chunk of our lives and am very sad to know a part of it is gone. Our best to you always.
Liz and Kayla
I am so sorry to read this about Peggy. We were friends long ago and had reconnected when she emailed me last Summer. We laughed at how we hadnt changed all that much even though we have aged. We did things together with my two daughters & Nikki. I was going to try to get together with her this Spring. Im so glad she had a loving husband, Edd.
