William 'Bill' Thomas Braun, Jr., 93, died peacefully on Thursday, February, 23, 2017. Services and inurnment will be held at Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, New York, at a later date. Arrangements are with Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. He is survived by his wife; seven children and their spouses; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister. Bill was a sweet gentleman. He and his wife of nearly 70 years, Virginia Rose (Fischer) Braun, raised their family knowing the importance of their faith and generosity to others. Bill served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II in the Western Pacific. A postal worker by trade, he was deeply involved in the Knights of Columbus, the Holy Name Society, and as an usher at the churches he attended. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be directed to St. Pius X Catholic Church Roof Fund or the Alzheimer's Association.
