Grace Fielder, 95, of Cedar Rapids, died on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral Services: 11 a.m. on Monday, December 12, 2016, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Christopher Podhajsky. Grace was born on April 2, 1921, the daughter of John and Lydia (Saldivar) Rodriguez. She was a graduate of McKinley High School. Grace and her home were the centerpiece of her family. She loved talking to people and hosting special events. There was always Mexican food cooking on the stove so she could feed whoever stopped to visit her. Her work at Killians Department Store and as a bartender were mostly so she could socialize. Grace enjoyed gardening and of course, cooking. She made regular trips with her sisters to area Mexican grocery stores and going shopping locally 'with the boys'. Her grandchildren will especially miss her love and the time they spent with her. Grace truly lived up to her name with charm and hospitality. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry 'Hank' Fielder; sons, John and Stephen; grandson, Justin; brothers, Al, Mike, Rudy, and John; and sister, Rosie. Memorials may be directed to the family.

  2. My Aunt Grace truly did love to feed you I remember living in McGregor and when we heard she was coming to visit we knew she would be bringing half the grocery store with her. May you Rest In Peace.

  3. My dear Gracie, it has been so long since I’ve seen you and now you have left us. You are still as beautiful as I remember last time I saw you. Every time we met, you would ask me about Rollie, my ex-husband, as that is how I met you when we were watching him and your boys playing ball – wow, that goes back a lot of years. Well, Rollie will meet you at the gates of heaven and you can go over old times with him since he passed before you. We all had some wonderful times with your family and you surely will be missed. I love you, my dear, and I wish you a restful departure. Many wishes, also, for your family as I wish them peace and comfort.

  4. Our love and prayers for comfort from across the miles to you all. Aunt Gracie was so special. She’s flying high with Dad (Dennis) now and will forever look after us all! xoxo Sara Aswegan

  5. To the family and all that loved Grace I am so sorry for her passing. Our history was nothing but good. Never once did this special woman say anything negative towards me. In fact we thought and agreed much alike. Whenever she saw me she always seemed happy to quickly acknowledge my presence. Wherever you are Gracie, I’ll always be your Red Baren. Joe Kolter

  6. To Bob, Jody, Danny and family,
Gracie is now laughing and listening to my dads silly stories in heaven. I loved visiting with her at the ballpark, she was always styling with her gorgeous hats.
A truly beautiful person inside and out, she will be deeply missed.
Our thoughts are with you all
