Ellen Rink

Ellen Kay Rink, 74, of Marion, Iowa, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 30, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Service outside of Mass: 11:00 a. m., Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services in Marion. Visitation: 9:00 ' 11:00 a. m. before the service. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Survivors include her husband of over 30 years, Patrick 'Shorty' Rink; children, James Dean of Anamosa, Donna Wyant and JoEllen Bednarowicz of Cedar Rapids, John Dean of Marion, David (Roxanna) Bednar of St. Charles, Tina (Allen) Klaugh of Virginia, James 'Rick' (Cynda) Rink of Germany, Eric (Keiko) Rink of Hawaii, and Melanie White of Texas; 15 grandchildren; 7 (and 1 any day) great grandchildren; brother, Michael Dougherty; and sister Margaret Konie. Ellen was born to Donald and Harriette (Danaher) Dougherty on February 27, 1942 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On December 28, 1985, she married 'Shorty' with whom she raised their family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She worked as an accountant for several companies including Rockwell Collins where she switched her career to a certified travel agent. Ellen quickly became highly respected in the travel field receiving numerous compliments for her excellent customer service. Ellen was proceeded in death by her parents; brother, Gerald; and granddaughter, Sarah Matthews.
