Roy Wymore

September 26, 1921 ~ November 16, 2016

Roy A. Wymore, 95, a recent resident of the Cherry Ridge Assisted Living in Mount Vernon and longtime resident of Lisbon, died on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at the VA Hospital in Iowa City. Memorial Service: 10:00 a. m. on Saturday, November 26, 2016, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon. Burial: 1:30 p. m. on Saturday, November 26 at Forest Cemetery, Oskaloosa, Iowa. Survivors include his daughters, Judith (Robert) Crawford of Newport, Minnesota, and Jacquelin (Hugh) Rick of Mesa, Arizona; 7 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great grandchildren; sister, Margaret Young; and many nieces and nephews. Roy was born September 26, 1921, in Conway, Missouri and raised in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Charles and Isabelle (Allgood) Wymore. He married Vivian Joyce Smith on July 10, 1949 and later moved his family to Lisbon. Roy served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps in W.W.II as a Military Policeman. His life included time spent as a pressman for Stamats Publishing, plumber, appliance repairman, and propane driver. More importantly, he enjoyed people, and was a good provider, volunteer, and caregiver. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Joyce; his parents; grandson, Jeffrey Jilovec; brothers, Larry and C. Purdue Wymore; and brother-in-law, Al Young. Memorials may be directed to your favorite veteran's cause. The family would like to express their appreciation to all the fine people who helped Roy and Joyce over the years.

    I’m so very sorry for your loss. It is especially difficult to loose your last parent, but my, look at how well your Dad and to be 95….not to bad. I remember so well when he and your Mom would come into the grocery store, they were so cute together.
    You were blessed to have two such wonderful parents. Please know you are in my thoughts at this difficult time. My sincere sympathy is with you and all of your family,

    I was Vice President at Stamats Publishing. I worked with Roy for many years. It was always such a pleasure to chat with Roy. He always had a kind word & a warm smile as he worked with Norbert on the 4 color press.. He truly
    Left an excellent mark in the world & in exchange the Lord granted him a long life to enjoy his Family and Joyce.

  3. Judy , I am so sorry for you loss of. Roy.. He was such a wonderful man and so proud of being a Marine.He came back to church to get right with the Lord and know he did just that.. Always enjoyed talking with him about things that happened over the years. Your family are in my thoughts and prayers and feel blessed to have known Roy.
