  1. With our sympathy and prayers.
    Leroy and Carol Clark
We lived near Verla and Harold worked with Leroy.

  2. My sympathy to you and your family on the loss of your mother. I remember meeting her at her home on the road to Lisbon, many many years ago. I have always admired your devotion to her and the time you spent caring for her.

    Sandy Pape

  3. Craig and Becky, I surely do remember your mom from the old days at Mount Vernon Elementary School. My sympathy to both of you.
    Sara Gaarde

  4. Becky & Craig,
I didn’t have your mother in school, but my brother, Mike did, I believe. I always had to admire her for being consistent, firm, and as fair as possible with her students. They always knew where they stood with her. I met her whenever she visited your next-door neighbors, the Hansens. She was friendly & had a strong sarcastic sense of humor.
I am so sorry to hear you lost your mother, but you can feel blessed to have had her with you as long as you did. Your children & grandchildren have known her, which is something very precious in life today.
I always felt that Mrs. Scheetz was a legend in Mt. Vernon’s Elementary School. For her attributes, that’s not a bad thing.
    Sympathies to the family.
    Jane (Baker) Hardin

  5. Verla was my teacher in grade school during the late 1940’s or early 1950’s at a rural school at Brooklyn Iowa (Madison # 4). She was an excellent teacher. We were also acquainted with her husband, Harold. My Dad had two dogs given to him. We kept one and the other went to Verla & Harold. I have heard the dog was very spoiled and when the their first child was born, the dog was so jealous that it died, If you would like to contact me, my name is Donna Fugate (used to be Camenisch) 319-363-9183 or cell 310-2672.
Prayers are with you on the loss of your Mother. She was very kind and loving.
