I send my sympathies to the family and friends of Anna.. I knew her a bit when we were kids long ago. With my parents – this is in the late 1940s – I would visit my grandparents, Fritz and Louise Dennler at their home east of Elgin. Across the road and down the hill toward the Turkey River lay the farm of Ern and Florence Friederich (Florence and my mom may have been related). We’d often go to visit them. My mom, Margaret, liked talking with Ern and Florence and my dad, Jake, had a good time speaking schweizerdeutsch with their elderly and near-blind hired man, Josie. Anna, who was a couple of years
younger than me, was a cheerful lively round-faced girl with braids and glasses. I remember her brother, Russ, too, and going out with him to bring in the cows one day. Bygone days. But in these days, warmest wishes to all who knew her and were close to her.
