Dorothy (Hills) Franks, 83, died at her son's home after a long illness on Saturday, February 6, 2016. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2016, at Oakland Church of the Nazarene, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: one hour prior to the service. Burial: Circle Grove Cemetery, Troy Mills.
Dorothy was born November 22, 1932, in Nora Springs to Leonard and Gladys (Anderson) Shanks. She married Harold 'Archie' Hills on November 26, 1950. They had four children. Archie passed away in 1993. On April 24, 1994, Dorothy married Mikeal Franks. She was a homemaker, and was an active member of the Oakland Church of the Nazarene until her illness.
Survivors include her husband, Mikeal; sons, Patric (Janel Drtina) Hills and Mark (Becky) Hills; step-sons, Dan (Deb) Franks, Jerry Franks, Tim (Elaina) Franks, John (Sara) Franks, and Steve Franks; step-daughters, Kitty (Mark) Simcox, and Laura and Rachel Franks; brothers, Burton, David, and Glenn Shanks; 25 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Harold 'Archie' Hills; sons, Michael and Steve Hills; daughter-in-law, Debra Hills; step-son Mikeal Franks Jr.; step-daughter, Emily Sherman; brothers, George, Earl, Larry, and Howard Shanks; and sister, Esther Ford.

Loved her Sunday dinners
Dorothy is such a wonderful person, with a big heart. I recall Dorothy singing in church and always thought what nice voice.Though I never got to spend much time with her and dad, I did enjoy listening to her, laugh, she had such a pleasant smile . We will meet again at the pearly gates.
