Joseph Viktor, 66, of Mount Vernon, died Sunday, July 26, 2015, at the Solon Care Center. Joe was born, February 17, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, to parents, Joseph and Ruthann (Biderman) Viktor. He worked in maintenance at Rockwell Collins for many years. He enjoyed fishing, cooking and grilling, watching cooking shows, driving around in his beloved truck, and giving people a hard time'especially at the Solon Care Center where he kept the staff on their toes. He was always there to help friends whether they needed a ride or just a good laugh. Joe always spoke highly of his daughter Marie, whom he loved very much. Survivors include his daughter, Marie (Mike Novak) Viktor of Mount Vernon, and former spouse and friend, Deloras Viktor of Mount Vernon. Joe was preceded in death by his parents. Attendees are invited to a luncheon following the funeral service.

  2. Marie, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time. My favorite memory of your dad was when we were little and he took me fishing for the very first time. He taught me how to bait the hook and I caught a snapping turtle the first time I threw my pole in the water. He also made the best pickled eggs I still make them the way he taught me. He always had a willing hug and advise for me. During my grandfather’s funeral he talked me through my tears during the viewing and funeral. I didnt know your dad as well as you do but what I did know of him he was a wonderful man and im very lucky to have known him.

  3. Joe was our neighbor here at Meyers Meadow. We are so sorry to hear of his passing.. He was very friendly and kind. We miss him as a neighbor.

  4. Joe was a great neighbor here at Meyers Meadows. He will be missed greatly. I loved visiting with him over coffee. He was very friendly and kind to me. Marie I have lost both of my parents it is a great loss.
