E. Maxine Cave McHenry, 74 of Tipton, formerly of Lisbon, died Tuesday, August 17, 2004 in her home from cancer surrounded by her loving family. Services 10:30 a.m., Saturday, in the Lisbon United Methodist Church, by the Reverend Tom Mattson. The family will greet friends Friday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., in the Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices Mount Vernon Chapel. Burial Lisbon Cemetery. Surviving Maxine are: her husband Lee of Tipton, two sons: Barry (Carla) of Clarence and Jerry of Cedar Rapids; one daughter Terry (Mike) Hoy of Clarence; two brothers: Jerry (Anna) Cave of Cedar Rapids and Kenny (Janet) of Lisbon; four grandchildren: Amy (Jim Yaukovitz) McHenry, Becky Hoy, Cheyanne McHenry, and John Hoy; a great grandson Ryan Yaukovitz; a friend Pauline Wagaman of Lisbon, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters Lois Brecht and Geneva Cook. Maxine was born May 12, 1930 in Bath, Illinois, the daughter of Clarence W. and Bessie Ethel Cooligan Cave. The family moved to Wyoming, and then to Lisbon. She graduated from Lisbon High School. Maxine married Lee McHenry July 30, 1953 in Kirksville, Missouri. She worked in various local businesses in Lisbon, Mt. Vernon, and Olin, working for Hillcrest Country Club from 1968 until 1970, Saga and Marriot Foods at Cornell College until she retired in 1989. Maxine enjoyed reading, playing games on the computer and watching the Cubs. She cherished the many hours that she spent caring for her great grandson Ryan. Maxine loved to cook and experiment with new recipes. Making chocolate chip cookies for the family was her specialty. Making Christmas cookies and candy were an annual event often times burning up a mixer. Maxine was a kind and generous woman who always put everyone else first.
