Margaret L. "Marge" Dauber Himes, 69 of Mechanicsville, died Monday, January 24, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, from a long illness. Memorial services 11:00 a.m., Friday at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices Mount Vernon Chapel, by the Reverend Linda Stransky. The family will greet friends Friday from 10:00 a.m., until service time at the chapel. There will be no public viewing. It is Marge's wishes that her body be cremated. Private burial Rose Hill Cemetery. Surviving Marge are two daughters: Donna (Cal) Paup and Deanna Himes Mizaur of Mechanicsville, two sons; Dan (Janet Walker) Himes of Dubuque and David (Deb) Himes of Mechanicsville, one sister Lois Kohl of Livingston, Wisconsin, and two brothers: Lawrence (Gladys) Dauber of Central City, and James (Vivian) Dauber of California. Also survived by three sister-in-laws: Florence Dauber, Ann Stogdill, and Caroline Kelly. Five grandchildren Chad (Renae) Paup, Stacy (Don) Griffith, Zach and Ashley Himes, and Victoria Himes, two great grandchildren; Cameron and Samantha Paup. Preceding Marge in death are her parents, her husband Dave "Bulldog" who died March 19, 2000, a son Dee who died August 6, 2003, a special aunt and uncle, Arthur and Mary Saum, a brother Robert "Bob" Dauber, and three brother-in-laws; Morris Kohl, Dick Himes, and Joe Stogdill. Marge was born May 24, 1935 at home in rural Mechanicsville, the youngest of five children, to John and Gertrude "Marie" Dauber. She graduated from Mechanicsville High School in 1953. Marge married Dave Himes, Sr. in Anamosa in 1960. She worked at Communication Data Services in Tipton for several years. Marge was involved in many activities throughout her life; escorting mobile homes with her husband, owning and operating with her husband, Dave, the Town and Country Caf and she owned Marge's Ceramic Shop in Mechanicsville. Marge was an expert seamstress and loved to knit and crochet. She loved reading and going to the riverboats. Marge enjoyed researching family genealogy, traveling to Ohio and Germany for information, and authored two books on her family's history. There was nothing Marge couldn't do if she set her mind to it. "Gramma" will always be remembered for her smile and her laugh. She never met a person who didn't like her.
