Sharon Corkery

Sharon Lewis Corkery, 58, of Lisbon, died peacefully in her home surrounded by family on August 30th after a courageous battle with cancer. Cremation services were provided by Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices. Upon Sharon's wishes, friends and family may come to their home to pay their respects from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 3, 2004. A private burial will take place at a later date. Sharon was born at Monticello on April 15, 1946, to Richard and Bernita Lesser Lewis. She graduated from Anamosa High School in 1964. She married Ellis "Corky" Corkery on January 11, 1969. For the past 15 years she's been employed by Lloyd Table Company in Lisbon. She is survived by her husband Ellis "Corky" of 35 years; her three daughters: Kristin Bascom of Ryan, Karla (John) Smith of Springville, and Kara (Bronson) Ganka of Ankeny; Jim (Becky) Digman of Galena, Illinois; two brothers: Darrell (Judy) Lewis of Anamosa and Richard (Kathi) Lewis of Puyullap, Washington; four sisters: Shirlaine Van Amburg of Mechanicsville, Audrey (Dick) Kahl of Clarence, Deanna (Doc) Corrigan of Cedar Rapids, and Diane (Leonard) Thompson of Mechanicsville. Survivors also include her eight grandchildren: Ashley, Chelsea Kay, Chelsea, Shianne, Savanna, Devin, Madysen, Samatha, and special family friends Rudy (Penny) Light, and Randy (Connie) Sproston of Lisbon who show everyday what true friendship really is. Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers: Leroy, Claire, and Joe; sisters: Valetta and Larue who also fought courageous battles with cancer. Sharon was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She loved quilting, gardening, and camping. Sharon touched so many hearts and will be missed by so many, but never forgotten.   1. one time when I was in iowa,i was shown how you guys dig for worms…that was funny aunt Sharon and uncle corky took us fishing but were soon rained out,i loved them coming to hot springs,after moms passing and dad remarring we just lost contact,i would love to know how everyone is doing and get back in touch with everyone,you can find me on facebook kim keith Heinz,aunt Sharon I love you and miss you you and mom are having a great time I am sure of I,the way you girls would laugh and cut up…it was like you went back to your youth,R.I.P.   2. I have a lot of fond memories of Aunt Sharon’s visits to Hot Springs. I know she helped me a lot when I was very young and not understanding the death of my grandmother LaRue… Prayers to her survivors. God Bless.
