Dateline: Mechanicsville Nadine Eleanor Niebuhr Boots, 79, died Tuesday, May 31, 2005 with her loving husband by her side, in their Mechanicsville home following a long illness. The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, (June 3) in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Mount Vernon, by the Reverend Mark Gefaller. Visitation from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices Mount Vernon Chapel. Surviving Nadine are her husband Bill at home, her children: Victor and his wife Connie Morningstar Alexander of Cedar Rapids, Curt Alexander (deceased) and his wife Aralia of Mexico, Mick Boots of Cedar Rapids, Phil and his wife Beverly Boots of Mechanicsville, Susanne Boots of Florida, Randy and his wife Sandy Boots of Mechancisville, and Brian and his wife Bobbie Boots of Mechanicsville; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; and a sister Lois Rugger of Oxford. Preceding Nadine in death were her parents, and son Curt. Nadine was born November 2, 1925 in Cedar Rapids, the oldest daughter of Victor F. and Louise Gardemann Niebuhr. She was baptized Dec. 20, 1925 and confirmed April 2, 1939 at Newhall, Iowa. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1943. Nadine attended the University of Iowa from 1943 to 1944. She married William Boots on Dec. 10, 1966 at Marion. Nadine was the office administrator at Gray, Stefani, and Mitvolsky Law Firm in Cedar Rapids from Aug. 1963 to Aug. 1998. Nadine was an active member of Aquarelles and IAAA synchronized swimming team for over 40 years. She was a life long member of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod. She enjoyed mystery books, crossword puzzles, collecting recipes, and cooking. Always a lover of the water, she loved living on the houseboat, swimming, scuba diving, and water skiing. Nadine treasured most of all her family and friends. Nadine's motto always was: "The longer you sit the harder it is to get up!"
