Edna D. Ohrt Young, 90, of Lisbon, died Friday, September 22, 2006 in Mercy Medical Center Cedar Rapids from a short illness. Services 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices Mount Vernon Chapel by Celebrant Mary Morgan. The family will greet friends from 5:00 until 8:00pm, Monday in the chapel. The burial will be in Lisbon Cemetery. Surviving Edna are her husband Bill of Lisbon, children: Ronda (David) Malcom of Mechanicsville, Deb (Allen) Forest of Cedar Rapids, and Ken Billman of Lisbon; four sisters: Velma Musil of Omaha, Nebraska, Wiona Lange of Henderson, Nevada, June Kubik of Lisbon, and Paula Hubler of Tipton; two brothers: Richard Ohrt of Tipton, and Donnie Ohrt of Wilton. Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Kim Peiper, Michelle Bradford, Ryan Gilmore, David Brian and Brandon Hudson, Stephanie Honn, Nicholas Forest, Jessica and Melissa Billman; a step-grandson Scott Malcom; sixteen great-grandchildren, and a son-in-law Larry Hill. Preceding her in death were: a daughter Linda Hill, and nine brothers and sisters. Edna was born in rural Tipton on October 22, 1915, the oldest of sixteen children of Gustave and Emma Schroeder Ohrt. She married William Billman. He died in 1958. Edna worked as a baker at the Holiday House Restaurant and Lounge in Mount Vernon for many years. She married William "Bill" Young April 15, 1961 at the Lisbon United Methodist Church. She spent many happy hours gardening, working in her flowers, crocheting, and camping. The loves of Edna's life were her family and friends. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
