Dale M. "PaPa" Brenneman, 73, of Lisbon, died Saturday, December 30, 2006, in St. Luke's hospital from a sudden illness. Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, (January 4, 2007), at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices, Mount Vernon Chapel by Pastor Bill Nielson, with military rites. The family will greet friends, Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the chapel. Burial in Lisbon Cemetery. Surviving Dale is: his wife Carol: two daughters: Doreen Conley of Mount Vernon and Susan (James) Otto of Marion; five grandchildren: Shelly (Kevin) Wells, Joshua (Staci) Siddell, Kendra Siddell, Jennifer Moore, and Christine Siddell; three great grandchildren: Kaysi Wells, Aryn Siddell, and Abby Wells; and three brothers: Wayne, David, and Jerry. Preceding Dale in death were his parents and a brother Glenn. Dale was born July 7, 1933 in Downy, the second son of Woodrow and Helen Brenneman. He graduated from Nichols High School, and joined the U.S. Air Force serving in Korea as an Air Policeman during the Korean War. Dale married his wife of fifty years, Carolyn Israel on August 11, 1956 in Newton. He was a foreman for Iowa Gas & Electric (Alliant) office in Mount Vernon and was a member of Union Local #204, Iowa Brothers of Electrical Workers. After retirement, Dale and his wife purchased "Brenneman's Lane" an acreage east of Lisbon, and in his spare time, helped out at Car Quest Auto Parts in Mount Vernon. Dale and his wife faithfully volunteered on the Lisbon-Mount Vernon Ambulance Service for many years. Dale worshipped his wife, children, grandchildren, and especially his great grandchildren. He was a generous and kindhearted man who loved getting his feet rubbed from his family.
