Berdell W. Maley

Berdell W. Maley "Bud" of Ft. Madison passed away on Thursday Feb. 28th at his home. He was born on July 28,1920 to Edith and Willard Maley. He married Kathleen Shifflett on April 16, 1941 in Anamosa. He worked for the Milwaukee Road Railroad, farmed with his father and retired from the Iowa State Penitentiary in Ft. Madison. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII achieving the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of the Ft. Madison Moose and Eagles lodges and the American Legion. He attended the University of Iowa and was a member of the First Christian church in Ft. Madison. He loved spending time with his 4 year old Shi Tzu, Angel. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed bowling, golf and fishing. He played the guitar and clarinet. Bud is survived by his loving companion Lucille Brinckschroeder, his son Stephen and his daughters Carmella, Joyce, Kathleen, Julie and Kelly. His sister Artelle and 16 grand children and 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
