Leland Russell Williams 82 of, 6325 Rockwell Drive NE, Cedar Rapids, formerly of Mechanicsville, died Friday 27, 2008 at Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House, Hiawatha, from cancer. Funeral services 1:30 p.m., Tuesday at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices, Mount Vernon Chapel, by Celebrant Mary Morgan. Friends may call Monday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at the chapel. Graveside services 3:30 p.m., at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville with military rites. Lee is survived by his wife Darlene of Cedar Rapids, two sons, Richard (Marlys), Vista, California and Roger (Deb), Cedar Rapids, four grandchildren, Michelle, Michael, Bethany, and Laura, one great granddaughter, Savannah, and a sister, Peg (Bill) Johnson and their daughter Kathy Johnson. Preceding Lee in death were his parents, Russell and Mae Woolison Williams. Lee was born February 12, 1926 at Morley. He served on U.S.S. Flint, with the U.S. Navy, in the Pacific, and with the occupation forces in Japan. Lee was a sixty year member of Busch-Dennis American Legion Post #309 at Mechanicsville. He married Darlene Resewehr, September 15, 1953 at the church at Clarence. He was a heavy equipment operator for Frank J. Meyer Construction and retired from Cedar County Roads in 1985. Lee fulfilled his dream by building and moving to a condominium in the Stone Creek Addition at Cedar Rapids in 2006.
