Date line Mechanicsville Eldon L. Hansen, 75, of Mechanicsville, died Tuesday, May 19, 2009, in St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral services 10:30 a.m., Friday at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices, Mount Vernon Chapel, by Celebrant Mary Morgan. Friends may call Thursday, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at the chapel. Eldon will be buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville. Surviving Eldon in death are three daughters: Karen Busch and Brenda (Joe Kell) Schuster both of Fairfax, and Deb Hansen of Cedar Rapids, 4 sons: Michael (Mary), Cedar Rapids, Brad (Terrie), Fairfax, Joel (Jenny) and Chris (Melissa Caldwell) Hansen, of Cedar Rapids, 4 stepdaughters: Donna (Lowell) Michels, Cedar Rapids, Sandi Jongsma, Mechanicsville, Rhonda Ricklefs, Clarence, Hope (Bryon) Wood, Lisbon, and a sister Bonnie (Floyd) Cuthrell, Ankeny. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 2 great granddaughters, 10 step grandchildren, 12 step great-grandchildren, and four on the way. Eldon was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Clarabelle Sampson Hansen, wife Pauline Payton Krumroy, and brother Marvin Hansen. Eldon was born May 1, 1934 in Hartley, Iowa and graduated from Paullina High School. He married Margie Birch. They later divorced. He married Pauline Krumroy. She died July 5, 2003. After his marriage to Pauline, he moved to Mechanicsville in 1978. He was a welder and foreman at FMC, formerly Link Belt Speeder, Cedar Rapids. Eldon loved the outdoors. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting Morrell mushrooms and hickory nuts. Eldon enjoyed people and telling "stories". Memorials for Eldon, may be to Mechanicsville Fire and Ambulance Department and Camp Courageous.
