Margaret Elaine MacBeth Suri

Margaret Elaine MacBeth Suri, 82, died in her Mount Vernon home, Monday, May 25, 2009, from natural causes. Memorial services are at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 28, 2009, at the First Federated Church, Lisbon. Arrangements are with Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices, Mount Vernon Chapel. Surviving Margaret are her husband Balwant Rai Suri, Mount Vernon, Iowa, David, Shueyville, Iowa, Rajindar Paul, Fennimore, Wisconsin, Mark, Deerfield, Illinois, Sheila Arney, Marshalltown, Iowa, and Ramona Tapper, Polk City, Iowa. Margaret is also survived by her grandchildren, Court and Elgn Arney, Ben and Marissa Suri, M. Spencer Tapper, Diedre, Sara, and Dana Suri, and one great-grandson, Alexander Edejer Suri. Margaret was born January 6, 1927, in Pontiac, Michigan, the daughter of David MacBeth and Alice Brandon Richardson MacBeth. In 1951, she married Balwant Rai Suri in Minneapolis. Margaret, Balwant and their growing family lived in numerous places including Corvallis, Oregon, Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Sao Paulo, Brazil, East Lansing, Michigan, Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Muscatine, Iowa, before moving to Mount Vernon, Iowa, in 1968. Margaret and Balwant moved to Trenton, New Jersey, and then retired to the Suri family farm in Mount Vernon. Margaret was a very devoted 40-year member of the First Federated Church, where she served as president of the Women's Missionary Guild and was a member of the sewing group. Margaret was an excellent seamstress and instilled this passion for sewing in her daughters. Margaret also enjoyed her plants and was an avid reader. In lieu of flowers and plants, a memorial fund for Margaret has been established at the First Federated Church, 115 N. Walnut, Lisbon, Iowa 52253.
