Nathan Christian Simons

August 16, 1995 ~ May 17, 2011

Nathan Christian Simons, 15 went to be with his heavenly Father on Tuesday, May 17, 2011, from his Mount Vernon home. A visitation for Nathan will be Monday from 3:30 until 7:30 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. Nathan's funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Antioch Christian Church, Marion. The burial will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, in the First Presbyterian Cemetery at Bellevue. Nathan is survived by his parents Larry and Kim and two sisters Rachel and Sarah all of Mount Vernon; maternal grandparents Dewey and Linda Brown of Central City and a special Great-aunt Carol Blanchard of Hiawatha; paternal grandparents Cecil and Arlene Simons of Bellevue. He is also survived by Uncles and Aunts: Steve and Roxanne Stone and their daughters Valerie and Shannon of Center Point, Ryland and Luanne Nading and their son Nicholas of Cedar Rapids, Chad and Julie Brown and their children Jodie and Colton of Central City, and Frank and Linda Alleva and their son Anthony of Cochranville, PA. Nathan was born August 16, 1995, in Cedar Rapids. He was a freshman at Mount Vernon High School where he participated in chorus, played football and baseball, ran track, and wrestled earning a varsity letter. Nathan was an outstanding student and was on the honor roll. He liked attending youth group activities at Living Water Methodist Church in Marion. Nathan loved hunting with his Dad and Grandfather Simons, vacationing with his family, and gardening with his mother. He enjoyed hanging out with his sisters and friends. Some of Nathan's favorite leisure activities included watching "The Office" and ESPN, playing X-Box, eating pizza and popcorn, reading the Guinness Book of World Records, and listening to music. He enjoyed comedy movies and loved to entertain others with funny quotes and impressions. Nathan's unique sense of humor and his bright smile lightened the hearts of those around him.
