Leonard M. Kamberling

Leonard Melvin Kamberling, 87, Lisbon, died October 16, 2011 in St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral services for Leonard will be Thursday, 11:00 a.m., at Morgan Funeral Choices, Mount Vernon, with military honors. His visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00, Wednesday at the chapel. Burial Mechanicsville Cemetery at a later date. Surviving Leonard are his family, daughters: Connie (Al) Meier, Susan (Doug) Gray, and Kim Madison, sons: Lenny (Jane) Kamberling, Chuck (Kathy) Kamberling, Danny Kamberling, Douglas (Stephanie) Kamberling, and James (Kimbra) Kamberling, sister Marie Thomson, and several grand children and great grandchildren. Leonard was born January 16, 1924, Sutliff, the son of Alvin and Eva Kamberling. He served with the United States Army, during World War II, earning two purple hearts, a bronze star and several other accommodations. Leonard was a member of the Lisbon Cyclops Post #109. Leonard was an ironworker for over 30 years, and was a member of the Iron Workers Union Local #89, Cedar Rapids. Leonard loved to hang out with his friends at Sutliff and Bill's Tap. He also loved to hunt and fish. Memorials for Leonard may be mailed to Morgan Funeral Choices, Mount Vernon, Iowa.
