Robert J. Englert

September 2, 1931 ~ July 22, 2012

Robert J. "Bob" Englert, 80, of Lisbon, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Sunday, July 22, 2012, at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House Hiawatha. Memorial Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Morgan Funeral Home Mount Vernon. Burial will follow at Lisbon Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Bob was born in Iowa City to Raymond C. and Mary J Mattes Englert on Sept. 2, 1931. He graduated from St. Patrick's High School in Iowa City. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952-1954. On October 14, 1954, he married Joyce A. Bohr at St. John's Catholic Church, Lisbon. Bob was an auto parts salesman for forty-three years where he made many friends. There were no jokes that he didn't enjoy telling or listening to. He loved woodworking in his spare time and made many things for his family and friends. He found great pleasure in teasing and joking with his six grandchildren, who were the apples of his eye. Bob would tackle anything that needed fixing around the house and was a pro at giving advice. He will be fondly remembered by his survivors: his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Joyce; three children and their families: Michael of Cedar Rapids, Eden, Evan, and Elissa; Douglas (Kelly) of Colorado, Calvin and Cale; Tamara of Lisbon, Cullyn; a sister Suzanne Fountain of North Liberty; and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brother William Englert. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Robert's name may be given to Hospice of Mercy or Lisbon American Legion Cyclops Post #109. Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Joyce and family, We are so sorry to hear about Bob. I remember growing up,he was so funny! It was always fun going over to the Englerts house when we were kids! When I was little, I’ll never forget when I stepped in his yard and he had just planted grass seed. He told me not to walk in the “snow” he had just planted! Needless to say, I was always careful not to step in his yard!! When I would see Bob, he would always remind me of that and we’d laugh! Farewell Bob, we loved you as our neighbor and friend. You will be missed! Thanks for being a fun guy!! Love, Kathy, Don, Roger, Steve and Rick Bailey

  2. To the Englert family: We are so sorry for your loss and please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Having met Bob only a couple times when he visited Doug and his family in Windsor he indeed loved telling jokes and was fun to visit with. May God help you thru this difficult time – time heals. When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory become a treasure.

  3. Dear Englert Family, I have so many fond memories of Bob and the stories he would tell (reminded me of my Dad). I just wanted you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Hold onto the memories – they will last a life time.

  4. We want to send our condolences to the family of Bob Englert. We are sorry to hear of his passing. Our prayers will be with you. Ken & Donna (Shaffer) McConaughy.
