Date line Lisbon Irene Helen Everman Mounce, 91, formerly of Lisbon, died Monday, April 08, 2013, in her Mount Vernon home. The family will greet friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Thursday with service 10:30 a.m., Friday April 12, 2013 at Morgan Funeral and Cremation Choices Mount Vernon. Surviving Irene are her four children: Doug (Peg), Corydon, Cheryl (Darrel) Obadal, Mountain Home, Arkansas, Sondra Mounce, Mount Vernon, and Kelly Mounce, Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are a sister Pauline Everman, Postville and 2-brothers: Clarence (Ramona) Monona, and Harold Everman; 5 grandchildren: Magille (Pat) Gevock, Brandon (Melissa) Kurtz, Kasey (Dale) Merrill, Keri Mounce (Mike Wallace), and Amy (Clint) Smith; 9 great-grandchildren: J. J., Teghan, Tava, M'Lynn, Jessica, Kane, Kale, Remy, and Treynor; and her "grandsons:" Sam Kringlen, Ben Binder, Aidan and Brody Nosek, Alex, Adam, and Austin Deeb. Preceding Irene in death were her parents, husband, 3-sisters: Florence, Marie, Gretchen and a brother Clifford. Irene was born April 3, 1922 in Postville, the daughter of William and Emma Wagner Everman. She graduated from Postville High School. Irene married Hubert Mounce, February 21, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, He died June 30, 1984. The family moved to Lisbon in 1957 from Cedar Rapids. Irene was devoted to volunteering at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City, Hallmark Care and Rehabilitation, Mount Vernon and Southeast Linn Meals on Wheels, Lisbon. Irene was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Mount Vernon where she was the oldest member and was active in Priscilla Guild. Irene enjoyed her friends, especially lunch dates and bus trips. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their events. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Irene's honor may be made to: Eastern Iowa Honor Flight, P.O. Box 10704, Cedar Rapids, IA 52410; Wounded Warrior Project, 230 W. Monroe, Ste 200, Chicago, IL 60606; and St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 600 Fifth Avenue SW, Mount Vernon, IA 52314.
