W. Jean Stamper, 68 of Mechanicsville, died Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Silver Crest of Anamosa. Jean's funeral will be 2:30 PM, Monday, September 2, 2013 at Morgan Funeral Choices, Mount Vernon by Celebrant Mary Morgan. The family will greet friends from 1:30 until service time. Burial Rose Hill Cemetery. Surviving Jean are her husband Ray of Mechanicsville; four daughters: Becky (David) McCullough of Glenburn, Maine, Donna Feddersen of Mechanicsville, Sileena (George) Hendley of Wyoming, and Carol Hayes of Mechanicsville; two step-sons: Mark (Terry) Stamper of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Rusty Stamper of Largo, Florida; two step-daughters: Rose (Paul) Baker of St. Petersburg, Florida and Loretta Stamper of Largo, Florida; 2-Brothers: Wayne Stanley and Paul Stanley both of Sparrows Point, Maryland; 19 Grandchildren; 30 Great Grandchildren; and special family friends Laura Caes and Teresa Stickley. Preceding Jean in death were her parents, George and Mary Stout, and first husband Thomas Eugene Hayes, daughter Vera Lynn Hayes, and a brother David Stout. She was born August 24, 1945 at Morgantown, West Virginia. After receiving her high school diploma, she attended school at Kirkwood Community College, where she received an L.P.N., and was certified as an over the road truck driver. Jean was highly intelligent which allowed her to accomplish many things in her life. She wrote poetry, some of which was award winning. Jean composed music, two songs that were published were "Dream" and "Time." She enjoyed music and singing, making cakes for special occasions, writing, reading, and fishing with Ray. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. The family wants to thank Above and Beyond Hospice and Silver Crest of Anamosa for the wonderful care given to Jean and Ray and support provided to their family.
