Mildred E. Schulte Brannaman

Mildred Elizabeth Schulte Brannaman, 99, died Saturday, November 30, 2013 in the Solon Care Center, Solon. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church by the Reverend John Flaherty. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 3, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Choices, Mt. Vernon. Burial St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Lisbon. Surviving Mildred is her husband Maurice; son Roger (Karla) of Marshalltown, daughter Mary Kay (James) Dostart of Winterset, son James (Carol) of Mt. Vernon, five grand children: John (Deena) Dostart and their son Benjamin, Kate Dostart, Michael (Sara) Brannaman, Brett (Tia) Brannaman, and Robert Brannaman; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; five brothers: Alfred, Bernard, Cyril, Ferdinand, and Franklin; and one sister Irma Svoboda. Mildred was born July 27, 1914 in Walford to Frank and Bertha Boddicker Schulte. She attended Walford School and worked for Wilson Packing in Cedar Rapids. She married Maurice on January 6, 1945 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Walford. They lived in Walford, and then moved to the farm south of Atkins, then moved north of Lisbon and then to the final farm south of Martelle. She was a hard worker, helping on the farm and enjoyed having a large garden. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. The family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice of Mercy in Cedar Rapids and the staff at the Solon Care Center. A memorial fund has been established.
