Beverly Billings-Cooley, 89, of Mt. Vernon, Iowa passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Hallmark Care Center after a long illness. Beverly was born May 28, 1924 to Harold and Isabella Frandin Moore. She was united in marriage to Donald Billings on October 4, 1942 in Vinton, Iowa. He passed away in 1964. Beverly was united in marriage to Raymond Cooley October 1992 in Mt. Vernon. He passed away February 2005. She was the oldest member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Mt Vernon. Surviving are her children, Sheila (Tim) Moffett of Lisbon, Iowa, Christine (Larry) Yancey of Mechanicsville, Iowa, Sharon (John) Kron of Iowa City, Laurie (Charles) Ryan of Bumpass, Virginia, Duane (Rebekah) Cooley of Marion, Iowa. Beverly also leaves behind: 1 sister Deanna (Dwayne) Lindsay of Caney, Kansas; 23 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and three children, Donna, James and John. Visitation will be 9:00 to 11:00 on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Scobey Road and Mt. Vernon Road, Mt. Vernon. Services immediatelyfollowing the visitation. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton with a private family burial.Memorials in Beverly's honor may be sent to the American Legion Auxiliary, Mount Vernon.
