Scott was born January 21, 1965, in Cedar Rapids, the son of William and Penny (Nennig) Whitters. He went to St. Joseph Elementary School and graduated from Marion High School in 1983. He was a carpenter for Local 308 with Rinderknecht & Associates, and was later self-employed. Scott was passionate about hunting and fishing, spending months at a time in Canada where he would guide people in hunting moose and bear. He also loved turkey hunting with his bow.
Scott will be remembered for his kindness and generous heart. He offered his time and energy to help everyone, often working himself to exhaustion. He would get sick or have trees fall on him and be black and blue all over and still not see a doctor. His friends and family were very important to him, but the bond he had with his brother, Todd was his most important. Scott will be greatly missed.
He enjoyed a good steak, margaritas, ice cream, rock music, and hated spiders!
Memorials are suggested to the family to be used for Taylor's future education expenses.
Penny and Bill – Kathy and I wish to convey our sympathies to you and your family at this sad time. We remember Scott and the rest of your clan running and playing together when we had our softball games over at St. Lud’s every Sunday afternoon. He and the entire Whitters family will remain in our hearts and prayers. God Bless!

I am truly sorry to hear about Scott. He was a great friend and had such a big heart. Scott used to drive us girls crazy by calling our name, and when we asked “what?” he would say “just checking.” I will always smile and think of Scott whenever I hear someone say “just checking’.
There are alot of things that we will miss about Scott. His sense of humor, willingness to help whenever asked, His smile, and his exuberance for life. He was always quick witted and had a come back for everything. Mike grew up with him, and he grew on me. There was never a dull moment when he was around. We were proud to have him stand up for us in our wedding and share that special day. He was a great friend and a fabulous person. Our condolences and deepest sympathies go out to his family, We send our love and our prayers your way. Mike and Kimberly Carpenter

Scott was one of a kind and we are sure everybody who knew Scott will miss him. ( We sure will). Scott spend a lot of time with us in Canada and became family to us. His love for the outdoors and nature was unbelievable. If Scott said he was going to do something you had better believe he would do it. He sure made a believer out of me . Our thoughts and prayers to the family ( especially Todd)
Dear, Bill, Penny, Todd and Lori remember the wonderful memories with Scott. I surely do, most of all when your and our family would get together and later when Scott would stop by and tell my parents all his travel, hunting and fishing exploits they would he taking about it for weeks thereafter .
With deepest sympathy , Joe Whitters

I extend my heartfelt sorrow to all of Scott’s family.I wish I could have made it back to Iowa to say good bye today. I have so many wonderful memories of Scott. He was a true friend, always good to me, I can’t even think of a time getting upset with him….Even when he would leave his hunted catch in the driveway, that was just Scott….Fun loving, great sense of humor, I’m in such disbelief he’s been taken from us way to soon! Rest in piece my dear friend I will never forget you…..
We were fortunate to have Scott do new roofs on two of our properties. We got to know him, and enjoyed his stories and humor. He was hardworking, reliable and left quite an impression on us. We are so sorry for your loss. If there were more people like Scott, this world would be a much better place. God’s love, comfort and peace to you all.
