Rosalind Wong lived a full 91 years before passing away on Monday, December 3, 2012. As was her manner, she fought until the end. Private family services will be held. She is survived by her husband, Jack; two daughters, Pamela Wong and Candace (Richard Jensen) Wong; and her son, Randy Wong, to whom she was totally devoted. Rosalind was born January 16, 1921, in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, and was part of a large family. Her sisters, Daisy King, Cynthia Shum, Gumbia Wong, and Gertrude Wong; her brother, Ed Wong; and many nieces and nephews also survive her. She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Harry, James and Jean. In 1948, Rosalind bravely agreed to venture to Cedar Rapids, after Jack went 'dear hunting' and found her. For 52 years, Rosalind and Jack worked together at the family business, the Dragon Restaurant in downtown Cedar Rapids. Her family thanks everyone for their thoughts and kindness, especially, Drs. Naser Payvandi, Matthew Anderson and Michael Waldman. Memorials may be directed to the Mercy Medical Center Foundation.

I am so very sorry for your loss. You do not know me but I knew Mrs. Wong from the Dragon Restaurant. My family and I enjoyed many dinners there and I remember her kindness throughout my childhood. I do not live in CR now, but lived there as a child. She was not only a family member but a true icon in the community. She was a wonderful, kind, and caring person and she will live on in your hearts.
Pam, Smiles, and your mom yelling at me and Jo. Wonderful times and memories, and I’m glad you had her for soooo long. Peggy, Jo Petterson Doolittle, and I send hugs honey. God Bless you and your family.

So sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. I have a friend here in CA whose parents were good friends with Jack & Roz. She brought me a picture of them from the forties. You all were an important part of my life for 6 years. My love to Jack.

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of loss. My father, Ben Wong worked at the Dragon Cafe when I was a child. I remember the delicious food at the Chinese New Years parties. Rosalind and Jack were always friendly. I pray that the Lord and wonderful memories of Rosalind will sustain you at this time.
Sincerely,
Connie (Wong) Cloutier
God’s comfort and peace be with family and friends at this time. My dad, Bennie Wong worked with Jack at the Dragon Cafe when I was young. I remember Rosland, Pamela, Candy and Randy. We attended New Years parties at the restaurant with them and attended the kids birthday parties at their home. My deep sympathy to the family at the passing of Rosland. She was a sweet person, as I remember her. My brother Billy, told me of Roslands passing he read in the news paper. The Lord bless Rosland’s family and be close to them at this time.
Very sincerely,
Bonnie Carnes

Such fond memories of it, and the koi fish. Mrs. Wong for sure brought something special to the world. Condolonces on her passing.
