Doris Margaret (Huerter) Westbrock, 78, of Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of Marion, died January 15, 2014, at Hospice of the Valley Sherman Home, from a sudden illness. Friends and family will be received from 5 to 8 pm Thursday, January 23, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Marion. Doris' funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 24, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Marion. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Surviving Doris are her husband of 57 years, Bernard (Bernie) Westbrock; her daughters, Nancy O'Connell, Marion and friend, Ed Rathgeber, Robins and Norma Westbrock and fiancee, Ron Neyens, Robins; her brothers, Mel (Dottie) Huerter, Marion, Gene (Gail) Huerter, Pella, Ken (Sam) Huerter, Mission Hills, California; her sisters, Arlene (Al) Hlas, Puyallup, Washington, Mary Thielen and friend Tom Potter, Viera, Florida, Diane (Gary) Clark, Cedar Rapids; grandson, Joshua O'Connell, Marion; great-grandchildren, Abagael and Cohlten O'Connell, Clarence. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Josephine Huerter; sister Bertha Rahe; and brother-in-laws, Edward Rahe, Charles Westbrock, and Jim Thielen. Doris was born November 28, 1935 in Seneca, Kansas to Henry and Josephine (Schurmann) Huerter. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Cedar Rapids in 1953. She was united in marriage to Bernard Westbrock on April 28, 1956 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Marion. She worked at the Linn County Courthouse and then as a secretary/bookkeeper for the family business, B. A. Westbrock Construction. Doris was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Marion, and St. Paul's Catholic Church, Phoenix, Arizona. Doris' faith in God was very important to her. She also enjoyed cooking and playing cards. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for her favorite charities.
