Jeanne Victoria Wagner, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Monday, July 2, 2012, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. David Beckman Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements are by Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Survivors include her children, Judith Wilcox of Ellsworth, Nebraska, Michael Wagner of Cedar Rapids, and Barbara Wagner of Iowa City; and a grandson, Travis Jackson of Jacksonville, North Carolina. Jeanne was born March 15, 1923, in Eddyville, Iowa, the daughter of Ellis and Minerva (Bassett) Pyatt. She lived in Iowa and southern Minnesota, and attended one year of college in Colorado. Jeanne came to Cedar Rapids to work during World War II. On January 8, 1949, she married Edward Wagner. A homemaker and mother, she also helped Edward run Hawkeye Sales Company, a longtime contractor's supply store in Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed being with her family and friends, traveling, and sports, and was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; stepfather, Farrell Cline; aunt, Mina Wagner; sister, Nellie French; brother, James Pyatt, step sister, Dorothy Bednasek; and a son-in-law, James Wilcox. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice of Mercy, or the Trappist Casket Children's Fund.

We are so sad for the loss of your Mom. She was such a fun loving,energetic and caring person. I personally have so many fun memories of her trips to Chicago with my Mom and Kay.God bless!

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of sweet Jeanne. What a lady she was and always so quick witted and fun! Love how she would straighten out those waitresses with bad attitudes, asking them if they were having a bad day! Boy, did they change their tune fast…. My heart goes out to all of you.

Your mother was such a dear lady. I was a friend from the Y and also tood care of Missy for Jean before she died and erncouraged your Mom to take her. I used to call yourf Mom for coffee and after awhile she didn’t return my calls. For the time I knew her she was a real blessing in my life. Sorry I missed her service. A friend, Ruth.
