Sandra Kay Skinner, 64, of Cedar Rapids, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 Sandy was born September 2, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Wayne and Betty (Misbach) Steinke. She managed Hills Bros. Jiffy Mart for 35 years. She had a close knit of family and friends that cherished her including her son, Brian Usher; grandsons, Cody and Spencer Usher; her brother, Richard Steinke; and sister-in-law, Pam Steinke. She has many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins that held a special place in her heart and they were the world to her. Sandy's extended family is so big, but her heart was big enough to hold their love. She was also lucky to have a very close and dear friend that gave her so much joy and love that he will always have a special place in her heart as well. Sandy was preceded in death by her husband, Marion 'Skip' Skinner; mother, Betty Burger; father, Wayne Steinke; sister, Bobbie Northrup; and infant sister, Patricia. Visitation: 4-8 p.m. on Friday at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Please come celebrate the life of a loving and brave woman on Saturday, August 10, 2013, from 1-5 p.m. at the Wilcox home, 1111 30th Street Drive SE, Cedar Rapids. Memorials may be directed to the family.

My heart is heavy as I write this. I am deeply saddened by the passing of your mother. I know how near and dear she was to you all, espeically you, Brian. You were truly her best friend and she loved you beyond anything else.

Brian, I am so sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. I can only tell you that time will help as it has since my mom passed, the memories are always there to hold you up and make your heart smile, as the thought of something you did together wil become a good thought for you and your family to share and remind you of her love for all of you! I wish I could be there with you guys. Sandy was a wonderful woman and so supportive of everything. My deepest condolences to the immediate family Spencer and Brian. I know you two will miss her greatly, but remember look in the mirror close your eyes and she will be there. No matter where you are and what you do she is there step by step.
