Thomas George Scott

March 2, 1948 ~ August 25, 2012

Thomas George Scott, 64, of Center Point, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 25, 2012, after a courageous year and a half battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 31, 2012, at the Toddville Free Methodist Church, Toddville, with Pastors Mark Lofquist and Garth Betry officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Military honors by Quasqueton American Legion Post 434. Tom is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cheryl; four sons, Jason (Chrissy) of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Joshua (fianc��, Mary Jo) of Center Point, Justin (fianc��, Danielle) of Cedar Rapids, and Jesse (Kaitlin) of Center Point; grandchildren, Emiley, Brandon, Brycen, Hailey, Cameron, and baby Tristen is on the way; brother, Eldon (Evelyn) of Anamosa; sister, Zelda (Harold) Powers of Quasqueton, special mother-in-law, Betty Ann Jordan of Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews. Tom was born March 2, 1948, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of George and Iris (Kress) Scott. He married Cheryl Jordan on January 24, 1970, in Cedar Rapids. Tom had a wonderful sense of humor and especially enjoyed the time spent with his family and many friends on his life's journey. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Inez Rinard. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

  1. We’re so sorry about Tom passing on. I will continue to laugh at his silly antics, so his memory lives on. Ladd always enjoyed Tom being part of the men’s Bible Study on Friday mornings many years ago. We’re praying for oomfort for your family. Tom will be missed. He sure loved all of you very much!

  5. I had the pleasure of seeing Tom at Ilene’s awhile back. He was excited about her car he was driving and wanted her to see it. We had a very enjoyable visit.

  7. Cheryl and Family, We will miss him so much! I know he wanted the family to be closer and he hoped to do that before he died. I think he did and more. He did not want to give up he had so much to see and do yet… But he told me god has other plans and his family is going to go on and carry his love with him where ever they are.. He also said for all of us to open our hearts to love each other there is no time to waste.. I love you uncle Tom thank you for the memories and your love!!!
