Ann Reed

September 4, 1943 ~ March 9, 2014

Ann Marie Reed, at the age of 70 passed away in her home surrounded by her family on Sunday morning March 9, 2014. Funeral Service: 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at the Cedar Rapids Seventh-day Adventist Church, by Pastor Lee Rochholz. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion. Arrangements are by Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Marion. Ann was born September 4th, 1943 in Pine River, MN. She was the daughter of Hans and Margarette Miller. She grew up on the banks of Dagget River in the wooded area of Northern Minnesota. After grade school she attended Maplewood Academy in Hutchinson, MN where she met her future husband Dave. She went on to the University of Minnesota and got her Associates degree in Social Work. She then married David Reed on August 25, 1963 in Hutchinson, MN, where they settled and raised their 3 daughters in the country. Ann enjoyed natural and healthy endeavors which led to opening a health food store. They then moved across country to Rogue River, OR where they started a new adventure building storage sheds. Ann had a passion for gardening which bloomed during their 20 years in Oregon. While in Oregon they helped start Better Life Television to further minister to the community, which has since grown nationwide. Upon retirement they began wintering in Yuma, AZ where they enjoyed extended quad rides, nightly campfires and sing-a-longs, while building lifelong friendships. These lifelong friendships open many doors to sharing their love for Jesus which entailed Maranatha and other mission projects building churches and schools. They often spent their summers traveling in their camper spending time with their daughters and families. She enjoyed digging in her daughters flowerbeds and being a special grandma to her 9 grandchildren while 'keeping them covered' in prayer. About 5 years ago they bought a house to summer in Iowa where she continued her joy of caring for her flowers and loving being near family. She revived her passion of researching family history and each fall traveled back to Arizona to enjoy warm winters. They looked forward to holidays where they could spend more time with family out west and building memories. Ann is survived by her husband of 50 years, David L. Reed, her 3 daughters. Julie Olson, her husband Loren and their children; Amanda (Anthony), Lindsey, Austin, Dylan, and also Jesse, Shay and Chase. Her 2nd daughter, Brenda Johnson, her husband Kevin and their children; Chassen and Devin. Her 3rd daughter, Dianne Parady, her husband Doug and their children; Kyle, Jocelyn and Katie and Jocelyn's daughter Tyla. Ann is also survived by son-in-law Terry Parsons. Ann is preceded in death by her mother, father, and her 3 brothers, James, Timmy and Donny Miller. Ann's message to you is; Jesus loves you and I will meet you in Heaven.

  1. Although we have not been intimately involved in each other’s lives since Maplewood days, Sandy and I have always admired both Ann and David. Ann will be greatly missed by her classmates. We are praying for Dave and children as you deal with this terrible loss, and we look forward to the soon coming of Jesus to end the sorrows of this world.

  2. Dear Brother Dave Reed & Family,
We are so very sorry to hear of your loss. May the Lord Jesus strengthen you, bless you, and uphold you in your time of sorrow. We were blessed by Ann’s tremendous faith in our blessed Saviour, and are looking forward to the day when there will be no more sorrow, death, or pain. God bless you.

  3. We enjoyed getting to know and work with Ann on Maranatha projects. She was always so enthusiastic about her love for God. She was a very special friend and we plan to meet her in heaven. Love and blessings to the family. David & Virginia

  4. My message is agreeing with Ann that we will meet when Jesus comes to take us all home. We at Gila Mt. SDA church will sure miss her. Such a worker for God and always a word of encouragement for everyone she met. My sympathy for the family as you will miss her so much. She is asleep waiting for Jesus to wake her. Christian love and thoughts go with you all. Joyce & Jess Chilson

  5. We will miss Ann. I look forward to the time when there will be no more goodbys.
God be with you and will give you comfort.

  6. Dave and family, our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.it was a joy to get to know Ann when you all were living in Hutch. May the blessed hope of Jesus’s soon return comfort you and give you peace.

  7. May God comfort and heal the Reed family and wrap you all in His arms of love! Our dear friend Ann will be sorely missed. Soon in heaven we will carry on with caring and sharing, hospitality and home activities throughout eternity!

  8. Oh, David, I’m so sorry. I didn’t know of Anne’s passing until today. I know that words cannot really bring comfort, unless it is God’s word, and I know of nothing better for a time like this than I Corinthians 15:51,52. What a blessed testimony Anne’s life has been.
